I love beautiful flat lays! Do you ever see food pictures on Pinterest and wish you could recreate something similar? What if I told you that you could fake an expensive marble surface for under $5? Well my friends, you can! Get ready for the best kept flat lay secret.
Below is a delicious Starbucks cookie on my marble kitchen counter. It’s almost too pretty to eat!
Would you believe me if I told you this isn’t a real marble countertop? Prepare to be let in on my little secret.
To create the look of a marble countertop I purchased a tile from my local Home Depot store, placed it on the floor and placed the cookie on top of it! I use this tile for different backgrounds and you would never know its a $3 piece of marble tile!
A little cropping later and nobody (other than you and my other readers) knows the difference. Your local Home Dept or Lowes has aisles of tiles that you can use to create beautiful photographs of your food and other fun subjects.
Check out my Instagram feed and see if you can spot all of the other places where I’ve used it as a background.
Do you have a cheap and fun way to creative beautiful backgrounds for your flat lays? Leave a comment and share them with me!
Sincerely Nikki, xo
